Progress in 2025/26
Our vision is for restored estuarine and coastal habitats that
benefit people and nature
This supports the Environment Improvement Plan target of restoring 15% of
saltmarsh and seagrass habitat and create functioning native oyster
ecosystems in 5-8 estuaries by 2043. It also aligns with the wider
Environment Agency mission to achieve healthy air, land, and water
supporting nature’s recovery.
We are proud to share some of our achievements with you.
Engaged with 350+ people at our 6th ReMeMaRe conference
Our annual ReMeMaRe conference marked its sixth year in 2025, welcoming hundreds of enthusiastic delegates to Scarborough for an inspiring
programme of shared learning and discussion. For the first time, the conference was also livestreamed – a significant undertaking that proved
hugely worthwhile, opening the event to a global audience, enabling many more people to join us who were unable to attend in person, and
fostering greater inclusion and diversity beyond the room.
Delivered £1.3m of restoration project round the English coast
We secured £1.3 million from the Water Environment Improvement Fund (WEIF), allowing us
to support 17 ambitious restoration projects along the English coast. From reviving saltmarsh
and seagrass meadows to restoring native oyster reefs, these projects represent an
important step forward in our collective restoration efforts. We’re delighted to share a
selection of these projects through the case studies on the following pages.
Co-ordinated a £50m investment-ready project pipeline
Alongside partners and colleagues, we built an investable pipeline of restoration projects,
creating a clear route to funding from multiple sources. The pipeline showcases collective
ambition while clearly highlighting opportunities for further investment. We welcome new
relevant projects from partners at any time.
