Total Project Value
Following nooding in Buckingham, Buckinghamshire County Council and the River Thame Conserva琀椀on Trust iden琀椀昀椀ed
Finmere, at the headwaters of the Great Ouse, as an area with strong poten琀椀al for Natural Flood Management (NFM).
Slowing water here would improve nood resilience across the catchment and reduce local nooding that disrupts village
access and private land.
NFM also helps reduce di昀昀use pollu琀椀on, which a昀昀ects water quality, sediment levels, and river habitats in the Upper Ouse.
With support from the Parish Council and landowners, the project is now moving towards delivery, guided by earlier
studies that pinpointed key loca琀椀ons for interven琀椀on.
Outputs:
Crea琀椀on of pond (0.14 ha) (pictured)
140 trees planted
NFM bund constructed
10 volunteer days
15% reduc琀椀on in nood peak
Outcomes:
Increased biodiversity
Intercep琀椀on and storage of surface water reducing
intensity of nooding in Finmere
Engaged community
