INCREASING RESILIENCE IN THE WAVENEY CATCHMENT
RURAL LAND
MANAGEMENT
Working with:
River Waveney Trust
Landowners
EA Lead:
Naomi Boyle
The River Waveney Trust has been working with
landowners to build climate resilience. On the Tin
River upstream of Bungay, where phosphate failures
and rapid runo昀昀 contribute to nood risk, measures
include reconnec琀椀ng the river with its noodplain,
bu昀昀er strips, tree plan琀椀ng, and contour ploughing.
In the Dove catchment, an online pond has been desilted to trap sediment and nutrients, while leaky
barriers downstream are helping to reconnect the
channel to its noodplain and enhance wet
woodland.
