What is Natural Flood
Management?
Natural nood management
(NFM) uses natural
processes to reduce the

processes protect, restore,
and mimic the natural
func琀椀ons of catchments,
noodplains and the coast
to slow and store water.
NFM measures can
include:
soil and land
management
river and noodplain
management
woodland management
run-o昀昀 management

East Anglia Local Levy Approach 2024-2026
In July 2024, both the Anglian (Great Ouse) and Anglian (Eastern) RFCCs awarded £1 million of Local Levy funding each
towards the delivery of NFM projects. This Local Levy approach focuses on small scale NFM projects with a total value of
less than £500k and a maximum Local Levy contribu琀椀on of £75k per project. This approach uses a streamlined funding
applica琀椀on and approval process that is propor琀椀onate to inherently small-scale low-cost schemes where the nood
reduc琀椀on bene昀椀ts are not easily quan琀椀昀椀ed. All Risk Management Authori琀椀es (RMA) can apply for this Local Levy funding.
Summary of criteria
Only RMAs can apply for the funding.
