Total Project Value
Decades of dredging and drainage lev the
noodplain nat, dry, and lacking habitat diversity.
Once rich in wetland plants, invertebrates, and
birds, it had lost much of its ecological value.
To reverse this, the project designed and
created around 15 scrapes, ponds, and wet
ditches of varied size across the noodplain.
Lapwing, snipe, and other declining waders and
wildfowl are already returning and using the
restored habitat. The work brings shared
bene昀椀ts for farmers, graziers, and the
environment.
