CHALK TO SEA
Working with:
BCN Wildlife Trust
Cambridge Water
EA Lead:
Rob Clapham
The River Granta is a heavily modi昀椀ed
chalk stream river south of
Cambridge. The river has a wide
range of pressures impac}ng its
ecological poten}al. One of these is
the presence of now obsolete
structures which act to impound the
river, causing degrada}on of habitats
and preven}ng 昀椀sh passage.

The Granta project, delivered by BCN
Wildlife Trust, successfully removed 2
of these structures and undertook
habitat improvement works. These
will help improve the local ecology
and provide addi}onal resilience to
low now pressures in the area.
